OUR PASSION:

Our community.

For the past 55+ years, the Neartown Association has worked to improve the quality of life throughout the unique and historic inner-city neighborhoods that make up greater Montrose. We serve as the neighborhood council of the Neartown/Montrose Super Neighborhood #24 and bring residents, businesses, institutions, and other stakeholders together to inform, discuss, and work collectively on issues affecting our community. We provide the Neartown/Montrose community a voice to the Mayor and City Council of Houston and other public officials.

Our story

Our story began in 1963 when the Neartown Association was created. Thanks in large part to the efforts of the Association’s founders, and the commitment of the civic leaders who followed, Neartown today is a vibrant community. As we take pride in Neartown’s position as a dynamic and growing part of the heart of the city, we’re also serious about preserving and improving our historic walkable neighborhoods, maintaining our eclectic personality, and continuously enhancing the quality of life for the people who call Neartown home.
